Johannes Hermann, Managing Director & Founder

Johannes founded Fieldgate Capital Partners in 2015 and is a Managing Director. He draws on more than 10 years' experience in Cleantech private equity and renewable energy investing, as well as management consulting in the power and utilities industries.

Johannes was previously a Vice President at Climate Change Capital's €200m Cleantech Private Equity Fund, where he invested in growth companies in Europe and North America. His expertise includes sourcing, evaluating and executing of transactions, as well as operational and financial restructuring and board-level monitoring of portfolio businesses. Prior to that, Johannes worked at AllMerus Energy, a renewable energy acquisition and asset development company, where he focused on bioenergy, solar and electricity storage investments.

Prior to this, Johannes served as a strategy consultant with Accenture, advising global Energy & Utility clients and Financial Institutions on growth strategy, reorganisations and performance improvement. He also worked at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and KPMG in M&A and Corporate Finance roles.

Dieter Waffel, Chairman

Dieter brings more than 35 years of executive management experience in the global energy markets, having served as a senior executive with a number of European and North American power companies.

Dieter is the CEO and Founding Partner of AllMerus Energy, (formerly MMC Energy UK), a London, UK based renewable energy company, focused primarily on financing and operations of international renewable energy projects. Prior to that, he was a Board member (Vorstand), and Chief Commercial Officer of PreussenElektra AG, and of E.ON Energie AG in Germany with a generation capacity of 34 GW where he established trading as a core competency and established E.ON Trading as a key player in the European energy commodity market. He is also a co-founder of the European Energy Exchange (EEX), now the leading energy exchange in Europe. Prior to that, he was a Senior Manager at Tennessee Valley Authority, USA, the largest US energy company, where he ran the 30 GW wholesale operations and established the TVA hub.

Dieter actively serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EEII AG, a publicly traded, Swiss based energy company. He is also a Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Solarion AG, a German solar company, and a member of the Board (Verwaltungsrat) of Lichtblick AG in Germany.

He held positions as the Chairman of the Council of the European Energy Exchange (EEX), as a member of its Supervisory Board as well as the Chairman of the energy trading steering committee for the Organisation of German Electricity Companies (VDEW). He was the Chairman of the Electric Power Research Institute's (EPRI) national Powercoach User Group and he was member of the Chicago Board of Trade's (CBOT) Electricity Futures Advisory Committee.

Georg von Kriegsheim, Advisor

Georg is a senior M&A and energy expert with 15 years of experience. He has extensive experience in constructing, acquiring and running renewable energy assets, with grid-integrated environments as well as direct, private off-take agreements with industrial and commercial customers. He has several years of experience solar and energy storage integrated hybrid business models and diesel integration.

Georg is a Partner at AllMerus Energy where he is focusing on deal structuring, financial modelling and investor relations. Prior to that, he served as an M&A project manager within E.ON Group (Thüga AG) where he was responsible for the acquisition of natural gas sales and distribution companies in Southern Europe markets. Before that, he worked at Ernst & Young in Germany on M&A transactions where he advised private equity clients as well as strategic investors on transactions in various sectors. Georg holds a position as a senior officer in the German Army.
